Welcome to Haughton-le-Skerne Local History Society

The 15th August, 2020, is the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day, marking both the surrender of Japan and the end of the Second World War. As a nation and here in our village and parish of Haughton-le-Skerne, we need to remember the scale and sacrifice made by the entire Second World War generation to protect our way of life.  The flowers to the front of the War Memorial (planted recently by volunteers) take the shape of a V for Victory to commemorate both VE and VJ DAY.
